Our Homes and Staff

Get in touch

Our two modern, family-style homes are located in either edge of town, or semi-rural settings, within easy reach of local amenities and can accommodate young people of any gender.

The Gildens can accommodate up to 3 young people and is located on the Hertfordshire/Essex border

The Quinters can accommodate up to 3 young people and is located near Hertfordshire/Essex border

Homes

All Era Care homes are furnished to a high standard and offer separate, suitably equipped areas for education and well maintained gardens. Children and young people may have a TV in their bedroom, depending on behaviour and progress.

The young people are encouraged to participate in the general running of the home. Pending age and risk assessment, they may be involved in cooking, cleaning, laundry, shopping and acquiring general life skills.

In addition to memberships of local leisure centres and gyms, there are options for a wide range of activities, many of which are loosely educationally based. In addition, children are often taken on holiday during school holiday periods.

You can read the Ofsted report for each house here:

Staffing

Our standard staffing ratios are 2:3/2:4 (staff to young people), however higher staffing ratios and waking nights can be provided, dependent upon the young person’s needs.

Our staff are supported by an extensive training programme and consultant child psychotherapist, as well as all holding (or working towards) the QCF3 in Residential Childcare qualification (or equivalent).

We have a diverse and flexible residential childcare staff team, to ensure that the young people are provided with individual care and additionally expand their individual knowledge and values.
